The Compact Outdoor Substation is manufactured by STALCO S.A. for over 30 years.
We are the only supplier of the Greek distribution network that managed to meet their strict specifications and demands for all these years.
Our Substations constitute the backbone of the Greek distribution network and have been operating trouble – free in the harshest environmental conditions.
STALCO S.A. has been awarded the EN ISO 9001:2015 for the manufacture of the Compact Outdoor Substation.
The bottom part of the Substation, on which all the equipment is fixed, is custom made using 3mm, 85μm hot dip galvanized steel sheet and high endurance paint primer coatings. The top part is manufactured using 2mm, 40μm galvanized steel sheet, specially formed to increase its strength and high endurance RAL 1020 paint and primer coatings.
The Substation can be transported and installed fully assembled (without the Transformer included). It can be directly lifted through special rings on the roof using a crane. The rings are connected to steel pillars that transport the load to the reinforced base.
The Transformer is placed on a special rack, under which there is an overflow space of sufficient dimensions to accommodate gravel. The Substations can be delivered with or without the Transformer.
The Substation is cooled by natural air circulation that passes through louvers that exist on the doors and below the roof. The louvers also protect the Substation from rain and burglary attempts.
This kind of Substations are ideal for Photovoltaic Parks because of the easy installation process and their exceptional reliability. They can be installed directly on the ground without a concrete base.

We are capable of manufacturing Outdoor Compact Substations according to our clients’ needs.
The Compact Outdoor Substations are capable of outdoor installation in the harshest conditions. They can be installed in direct exposure to snow, rain, sun and wind without any base required.
They are designed in such manner that they can be 80 cm underground, so that their size can be reduced.

The Compact Outdoor Substations are composed of the following compartments:
- Medium Voltage Compartment.
- Transformer Compartment capable of operating at 1.000 kVA.
- Low Voltage Compartment.
- RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) Compartment.
The Medium Voltage Compartment is equipped with a compact 24kV RMU unit with SF6 insulation that can be remotely operated.
The Transformer Compartment roof can be detached to ease its loading. When it is detached, the roofs of the rest of the Compartments are fixed in place for rain protection. All parts of the roof are insulated, rain and humidity proof.
The Transfomer rests on a special grill, under which rests gravel that fill the oil-overflow-basin.
The Low Voltage Compartment is equipped with a load break switch, eight outgoing 400A fuse rails and a single isolator. There is also more than enough space in the low voltage compartment to add all the necessary Low Voltage equipment (even extremely bulky ones).
Each Compartment is fully accessible through a double door (RTU has a single door) that can open to more than 900 and can be locked securely.
